![]() Basically replace the text on the other side of the parameter “property” with the appropriate field name. To use the text for the adjacent grid on your layout replace number with PageNumber_* where * is N, S, W, E, NE, NW, SW, SE. To save a little bit of time you can use the Insert dynamic text menu to add your first piece of text. ![]() Now all you do is place text on the layout where you want the adjacent page numbers (or names) to appear. The page number field for each neighboring grid (N, S, W, E, NE, NW, SW, SE) is now populated. This is what the table looks like after you run the tool. PageName and PageNumber are the significant fields. Now here is what the table for a grid map index looks like before you run this tool It is a very simple tool in that it only requires an input and an output. To add them to a grid map index you need to use the “Calculate Adjacent Fields” from the Data Driven Pages toolbox in the Cartography toolset. When you build a strip map index the fields for the previous and next grid numbers (or names) are automatically created. You have to build those first before you can use them. What is not there are items for neighboring grids. ![]() There is a good list of text items that you can access from the Insert drop down menu at the top of the window. I talked briefly about dynamic text in the last post. ![]()
